Technology of Tomorrow

b2ap3_thumbnail_worldhand400.pngTake a minute to look at the computer you're using to read this. Are you using a flat screen? How large is your hard drive? What do you use to transfer your data from one place to another? Most likely your screen is indeed flat, your hard drive is no less than 300-500 gigabytes and you carry a portable hard drive on your key ring. Technology, it seems, gets better with every passing day.

"Moore's Law", deriving from Gordon E. Moore in 1965, states that processing power would increase two-fold or more every two years. A lot of people, living in their analog world, had no idea what he meant. Those that did, could see the large impact in which this would take effect on humanity. The possibilities were endless and over the next 45+ years, it sparked a technological revolution that changed the way we communicate and do business.

In the 1970's, Intel, a corporation co-founded by Moore, created the first microprocessor, the 4004. This significantly reduced the size of computing systems which lead to a drop in the cost of manufacturing, making personal computers (PC) available to the public. This gave consumers computing power equivalent to that of which large corporations had. As time went on, the need for computer-based jobs increased, opening up new markets and overall increasing the economy. Once PC's became affordable in the 80's for most consumers, the digital revolution had truly begun.

By the late 80's, most companies had incorporated computers into their business. Then shortly after, in 1991, the World Wide Web became available to the public. This changed the way individuals of the the world communicated with one another. It opened up an unlimited stream of resources and allowed service based companies to flourish. Without the Internet, Computerware surely wouldn't exist today. The more time goes on, the more possibilities it unveils. We've recently seen the creation of cloud computing allowing access to applications, business processes, and personal collaborations from anywhere on a multitude of devices. Imagine where this will take us in 30-40 years?

Since we are all affected by these spurts of technological bliss, it's safe to assume that you may need some help deciding what IT solutions are best for your business.
