Lightshot: More than a Screenshot
Remember the old days of having to click Shift plus Print Screen in order to take a screenshot? You would then have to open an image editing program to cut out the rest of the screen you didn't want to take a screenshot of. Those days have come and gone thanks to LightShot. Lightshot is more than a simple screenshot tool.
Lightshot replaces the function of the Print Screen key on your keyboard. In the old days, Print Screen had to be combined with the Shift key in order to take a quick snapshot of the screen you are currently viewing. With Lightshot, when you press the Print Screen key your screen gets a transparent mask over it. You can then simply click and drag to create a box to select an area of the screen that you want to take a screenshot of.
Lightshot gives you multiple options to manipulate your screenshot. The first, and maybe the most impressive option that Lightshot gives you is to open an online editor to edit your screenshot online. Other options available include:
- Uploading the screenshot to the Lightshot server which will send you a URL that will allow you to share that screenshot with anyone.
- Print the screenshot.
- Copy the screenshot to your clipboard.
- Save the screenshot as any of the most popular image formats (.jpg, .bmp, etc.)
- Discard the current screenshot and select another.
Lightshot also allows you to post your screenshot to your social media accounts. This feature can be accessed after selecting the area you want to take a screenshot of. On the right side of the selected area you can click the options to post the image to your Facebook account, post the image to your Twitter account, or email it to someone you know. Another option that is available is the ability to search for similar images that match your screenshot on both Google images and Tineye.
Lightshot is available for both Windows and Mac so whatever environment you are using you can transform your Print Screen key into a Lightshot powerhouse.
