3 Reasons Why Users Avoid Upgrading their PCs

b2ap3_thumbnail_YUNoUpgrade400.jpgWe like to point our clients in the direction of upgrading to the latest technology; and we don't make these recommendations blindly, we have a laundry list of benefits that come with upgrading that can be quite convincing. Yet, there are many people who decline upgrades.

We have heard every reason under the sun why people don't want to upgrade, and many of them are valid. Here are three of the most popular reasons why PC users turn down upgrades.

Old PCs Work for Casual Users
The staying power of older PCs largely contributes to a customer's resistance to upgrade. Why would a user want to upgrade when they can do everything that they need to do on their current PC? A casual PC user can do almost every routine task on their old machine; whether it is using a word processor, browsing the Internet, or playing solitaire. A new high performance PC is not needed for any of these jobs. We say that if you can make your old PC still work for your needs, then more power to you!

Many Users Prefer what is Familiar
There are other users that know the ins and the outs of their current software so well that they simply do not want to have to learn the intricacies of a new version. Maybe they have sunk a lot time into customizing their menus and have got everything right where they want it. Why would they want to undo everything with an update? Hey, we get that too, not everybody in our office was excited about Windows 8 for that very same reason.

Updates Cost Money
Lack of money can also prevent people from upgrading. New hardware and software costs money and sometimes IT budgets can be tight. We understand that capital can be a pain point; this is why Computerware is committed to work closely with your budget to find you technology solutions that are affordable.

If you don't want to upgrade, then we respect that and we will be happy to work on your older system to keep it running as smooth as possible. If you ever do reach a point where it is critical to upgrade, then we will let you know and make our services available to you.

As an IT company, we will always try nudging you in the direction of upgrading. The most important need to upgrade comes in the area of security. While it is true that you can go for a few years without upgrading your operating system and your favorite applications, it is vital that you stay current with your security upgrades. Security upgrades are free, easy to install, and they do not change how your PC operates.
